Accommodation Resources

These terms refer to different types of housing or accommodation resources that can be established to meet the specific needs of different groups, such as seniors, families, or individuals requiring an intermediate level of support. Here is what each acronym means:

Intermediate Resource (IR)

Intermediate resources can take the form of various types of facilities, from supervised apartments to group residences. They accommodate clients with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, age-related loss of autonomy, mental health disorders, addiction problems, or multiple issues.

Family Type Resource (RTF)

A family-type resource generally consists of one or two people who welcome into their homes, in their primary place of residence, people (children, adolescents, adults, elderly people) in need of rehabilitation, adaptation and maintenance of their skills. It is a substitute living environment adapted to the needs of the clientele which is part of a family life context welcoming a maximum of nine people.
This person is responsible for the well-being of the people accommodated. In addition to providing basic quality services such as room and board, it offers support and assistance services specific to needs, it collaborates closely with the establishment to achieve the objectives set out in the user’s intervention plan and respects all of the establishment’s policies and protocols.
This type of resource provides a family living environment for people who require support, but who can benefit from the warm atmosphere of a family home rather than an institution.

RESIDENCES FOR THE ELDERLY (RPA)

Private seniors’ residences, also known as REPs, meet the needs of independent or semi-independent seniors. Some also offer services to non-independent seniors.

An RPA is a building that offers rooms or apartments as well as adapted services in a safe environment. The nature and quantity of services, as well as the cost of rent and utilities, vary from one residence to another. These include, among other things, meal services, housekeeping, and recreation.

Some residences also offer nursing care and personal assistance. This may include assistance with bathing or dressing, medication distribution, or nursing follow-up. This care is sometimes grouped into a care unit for people who require more frequent assistance or greater supervision.

In short, these terms describe specific accommodation options based on the particular needs of potential residents.
